More Individuals Now Qualify for Membership
A few months ago, Air Force Federal Credit Union sought to expand the qualifications for membership in the credit union. Recently the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) approved that request.
There are some very specific rules that govern membership qualifications, and those are posted on our website at airforcefcu.com. On the homepage, click on the button at the left where it says “Join Online,” or click on “Join Us” in the navigation bar in the top banner. This will take you to a page with a “Become a Member” button. Click through to the next page under “Membership Eligibility,” to read the language from the Credit Union’s new charter that governs membership eligibility.
The quick version of the expanded Membership Qualifications is as follows:
If you are an active duty U.S. Armed Forces service member, regardless of branch of service, and you are attached to a unit located in either Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, or Louisiana, then you qualify for membership.
If you are a Department of Defense civilian employee or an employee of the Federal Government working on a military installation in one of these same states, then you qualify for membership.
If you are an employee of a contractor working on a military installation in one of these same states, then you qualify for membership.
If you are a member of a Reserve or National Guard unit located in one of these states, then you qualify for membership.
If you are a cadet in an ROTC program located in one of these states, then you qualify for membership.
If you are retired from the military and reside in one of these states, then you qualify for membership.
If you are a family member (spouse, child, grandchild, parent, or grandparent – including step and adoptive relationships with these designations) of an individual meeting the qualifications above, even though they themselves may not be members, then you qualify for membership.
Credit Union growth funds the many products and services we provide to our existing members. Increasing the number of potential members means that we will be able to continue our progress toward our vision of being “Your One Financial Partner.”
As always, I remain in service to you,
