Text Scam Alert – March 24th, 2009
Individuals are receiving text messages to contact them via a phone number or they may have their account and/or credit card account closed. This is NOT a text message from Air Force FCU, so please do not respond to it.
There are so many ways for perpetrators to attempt to get personal information, including the use of text messages. It is important to remember to limit the release of personal information in order to protect yourself from fraud. Note: Air Force Federal Credit Union will never ask you to provide account numbers, passwords, Social Security Numbers or other private or personal information about you through text, e-mail or by fax. If you receive a request for this information, you should delete.
Additionally, formal complaints concerning any suspected fraudulent e-mail can be filed with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) at www.ic3.gov. The IFCC is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National White Collar Crime Center. For more information, please visit our Security Center.
